Coach John B. McLendon Jr.
Coach John B. McLendon Jr., born on April 5, 1915, in Hiawatha, Kansas, is recognized as the "Father of the Fast Break" in basketball. A trailblazing coach, he was inducted into the University of Kansas Hall of Fame and is known for coaching the historic "Secret Game." In his honor, the NCAA Coach of the Year receives the John McLendon Trophy.
